Do you have a source for your casting speculation for The Lovely Bones? Since your article about one of the actresses in question will likely be deleted, many people will assume that you put it in those articles just to make it look more legitimate (That doesn't work here).

But I will assume good faith and ask respectfully if you have a source for this that can be verified. Daniel Case 23:28, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Please try to use the same IP if you can. It makes keeping in touch easier.

We have been trying to keep a lid on "rumored" information that gets published here. This is a very tricky area to work in. Consider that Wachowski brothers only barely mentions the rumors about Larry getting a sex-change operation, even though a Google search reveals quite a bit on that one.

I have not seen anything to the effect of this casting speculation on the IMdb page (It may be in the discussion threads there, I haven't logged on to read them, but discussion threads online are not considered reliable sources. I Googled and found nothing, as did the editor who removed it from the articles.

Therefore, while it may well be a real rumor, it has neither been officially confirmed or denied by anyone involved with the movie nor the subject of an article in Variety, the Hollywood Reporter or some other reputable film-industry news source. Thus it can't be in the article (Generally, we don't like to put things about who might be cast in movies into articles because Wikipedia is not a crystal ball.)

Now, if you really want to get this information out there and legitimize it, what I suggest you do is hire yourself as a journalist and see if you can write the article in question:

  • Get an account on Wikinews, our sister site. Learn the ropes there first.
  • Since you can do original research for Wikinews, call or email the publicists, agents or managers for Peter Jackson and the actresses involved. Remember to identify yourself as doing it for Wikinews, and explain the concept to them as "the news version of Wikipedia." Since most of them aren't widely known, they may well decide to talk to you, although you may have to bug or pester them a bit to get them to acknowledge your query. Take notes on the phone calls and/or save the emails.
  • Then write the story and post it there. If you get information you can use but are unsure of how to put it together into something that looks like a real story, get in touch with me again. I'm a journalist and I can help you.

Does that help? Daniel Case 17:00, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
