Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.-Andrew c [talk] 19:19, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Since there is a high volume of new users who often make similar disruptive edits, wikipedia (or more specifically Wikipedia:WikiProject user warnings) has developed a set of standardized warning templates in order to more easily warn new users when they are unfamiliar with wikipedia policies and guidelines. This also makes sure that all new users are treated in a similar manner for similar incursions. Since you have taken the time to contact me personally, I will do my best to explain the rules and to explain how you went wrong. The main applicable policies here are WP:EL and WP:SPAM. Numbers 2 and 5d in the list found here are especially relevant. I'll summarize. Wikipedia is not a web directory. We are an online free encyclopedia. The addition of external links is barely relevant to the overall encyclopedic value of the articles. What is important is the content we have on site, not the content to which we link. When a new users (or anonymous IP user) is seen going around to multiple articles placing a link to the same webpage (in this case christianity.com) it is considered spamming, and has been reverted (and if you note, I was not the only one to revert your changes, so this demonstrates that other users agree that your links were not appropriate). The best thing for you to do in this situation is simply not edit wikipedia for the sole purpose of promoting christianity.com, but instead, if you are interested in these topics, consider adding citations to reliable sources for articles that lack citations, expand content with verifiable text, copy edit articles, or any number of methods to increase the encyclopedic value of articles. I'd be glad to assist you in any way, or answer any of your questions. Thanks for your consideration.-Andrew c [talk] 15:05, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Back to the Bible. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. JGHowes talk - 19:58, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
