The 204th Air Base is a main air base of Serbian Air Force and Air Defense. It's home of Serbian fighter and transport aviation.

The 204th Air Base was formed on 15 November 2006 formed as successor of 204th fighter aviation regiment of ex Yugoslav and Serbia and Montenegro air force. It's located at ex 177 air base (Batajnica Air Base), and it's created from ex 204th fighter aviation regiment, 252th fighter-bomber squadron, 890th helicopter squadron, 677th transport aviation squadron and one unit of 353th reconnaissance squadron. The 204th fighter aviation regiment is now 101. Fighter-Aviation Squadron, 252th fighter-bomber squadron is now 252. Mixed-Aviation Squadron used primary for basic training and ground-attack missions, 677th transport aviation squadron and 890th helicopter squadron are now 138. Mixed-Transport-Aviation Squadron, and 353th reconnaissance squadron unit is now 1. Reconnaissance Aviation Section.

[edit] Tasks
In peace time, 204th Air Base units perform the following tasks:
- aerial space control;
- deterring aggressions by deploying Air Force and prevention of surprise attacks;
- aerial reconnaissance;
- air transport;
- participation in peace keeping operations and in international military cooperation;
- providing support to civil authorities in case of natural disasters, industrial and other accidents and epidemics;
- providing support to civil authorities in countering terrorism and organized crime;
and in war time, 204th Air Base units perform the following tasks:
- combat for prevailing in the aerial space;
- air defense of the territory and SAF;
- aerial reconnaissance;
- aerial firing support;
- aerial transport.

The 204th Air Base units are armed with following weapons:
- Fighter aircraft: MiG-21 (in Bis and UM versions) and MiG-29 (1 UB and 4 B versions, currently out of service);
- Trainer aircraft: Lola Utva 75 and G-4 Super Galeb (G-4 are used in ground attack role too):
- Transport aircraft: An-26 and An-2
- Reconnaissance aircraft: MiG-21M (only unit) and two MiG-21 Bis equipped with reconnaissance equipment;
- Helicopters: Mi-8, Mi-17, Mi-24 and Aérospatiale Gazelle;
- Air defense arms: Bofors 40mm gun and MANPADS.
