Attention:

This IP address, 203.97.0.38, is registered to Christ's College, Canterbury, and may be shared by multiple users. If the organization uses proxy servers or firewalls, this IP address may in fact represent many users at many physical computers.

For this reason, a message intended for one person may be received by another and a block may be shared by many. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. In some cases, you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to fight vandalism; if so, please see here.

If you are autoblocked repeatedly, we encourage you to contact your Internet service provider or IT department and ask them to contact Wikimedia's XFF project about enabling X-Forwarded-For HTTP headers on their proxy servers so that our editing blocks will affect only the intended user. Alternatively, you can list the IP at Wikipedia:WikiProject on XFFs.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider using a soft block with the template {{anonblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.

Note: In the event of vandalism from this address, abuse reports may be sent to your network administrator for further investigation.

July 2006

I've removed a large number of links to http://www.liturgy.co.nz recently, based on the guidelines found at WP:EL. Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thanks. Luna Santin 11:48, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

As a general rule, I'm more than happy to discuss my actions, when I can, and when it'll be productive in some way. In this case, I made a judgement call or two. The first link -- to the Hiroshima page -- was what I'd consider unencyclopedic. Many of the other links seemed, to me, gratuitous, in I couldn't find significant, apparent, direct, encyclopedic relevance to the article's subject matter, and also in that the link generally pointed only to the liturgy.co.nz site index (not to any particular article); likewise, the site was added to roughly 30-40 articles, over the course of a few months. Finally, I had a strong impression that you're personally involved in, or otherwise connected with, the liturgy.co.nz website, at which point I should note WP:EL guidelines, which suggest that all of us editors should avoid linking to our own websites (per WP:AUTO). Hope that helps a bit. I'm not one to hold grudges, generally, but it's important for us all to remember that Wikipedia is not a collection of links to every website. Thanks and regards, Luna Santin 06:40, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
