Attention:

This IP address, 203.26.122.12, is registered to Southern Systems (S.A. Government), Australia and may be shared by multiple users. Comments left on this page may be received by other users of this IP and appear to be irrelevant. Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking.

If you are an unregistered user operating from this address, note that this need not necessarily be the IP address of your machine. In many cases, it turns out to be the IP address of a proxy server that communicates between your browser and the Wikimedia servers. Such proxies are shared among a huge number of users compared to the number of persons using your particular machine. If you are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself.

However, you might still be unable to edit Wikipedia if the IP you are using is blocked due to a MediaWiki "feature". In such a case you could request to be unblocked.

In the event of vandalism from this address, efforts will be made to contact Southern Systems (S.A. Government) to report network abuse.

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to Gary Coleman, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Ucanlookitup 00:04, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to Gary Coleman, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. NawlinWiki 01:18, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits, such as those you made to Gary Coleman, are considered vandalism. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the hard work of others. Thanks. Funnybunny (talk/Counter Vandalism Unit) 01:43, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from annoying me with stupid notices that don't mean anything, or I WILL ban you from contacting me. (by User:203.26.122.12)

Please note that 203.26.122.12 is a dynamic IP address, which may used by any of hundreds of government employees in Adelaide, Australia. While I understand and agree with the need to block vandals, it's not quite rational to send messages to an IP address as if this was one individual person. 203.26.122.12 03:40, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

It makes perfect sense from my point of view. The IP address gets blocked. Nice users see they've been screwed by one or more co-workers. Nice users go to their systems administrator to track down the rotten apple(s), and some jerk gets his/her knees nailed to the floor. Alternatively, we could contact your systems admin and see if he/she gives a flying flip, but it's a pretty rare admin who does, and if you care enough, you'll do it yourself. Admins are more likely to care about their users than about whiney sysops here at Wikipedia. We can't make this their problem. You can. I trust you now see these messages are quite rational indeed. [edit] October 2006

So how much consensus is required to block the IP address? Idle threats have apparently emboldened the vandal.

Today I received the following email from the wikipedia password server, triggered by this IP address:

"wiki@wikimedia.org to me 9:24 pm (0 minutes ago)

Someone (probably you, from IP address 203.26.122.12) requested that we send you a new Wikipedia login password for en.wikipedia.org. The password for user "me" is now "something else". You should log in and change your password now.

If someone else made this request or if you have remembered your password and you no longer wish to change it, you may ignore this message and continue using your old password."

As I interpret it, the email indicates that a user at this IP address attempted to tinker with my user account in some fashion, which resulted in my password being proposed for change and the confirmation email being sent to me. Anybody nail down the vandal yet? --Duff 08:07, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Alanis Morissette

Please don't insert excess numbers of fair use images (ones that are not under a free license). Per Wikipedia:Fair use criteria, "The amount of copyrighted work used should be as little as possible ... Do not use multiple images or media clips if one will serve the purpose adequately.", and "The material must contribute significantly to the article (e.g. identify the subject of an article, or specifically illustrate relevant points or sections within the text) and must not serve a purely decorative purpose." It doesn't matter if other articles use the same format - the point is that they shouldn't. Also, the images had no fair use rationale on their description pages. [edit] Recent misuse of this IP address

There is a suspected sock puppetry issue evolving during a vote in Talk:Meher Baba#Call for a Vote on Townshend Issue. A check-user investigation will be requested upon closing of the vote. This IP was used to add a misleading comment on the issue, and then the signature changed to one of the suspected sock puppets. Hoverfish 07:27, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

There was nothing apart from summary on those pages. More is needed for the episodes to meet acceptable guidelines. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 06:56, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spin Spin The Dogs

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Spin Spin The Dogs, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to St. Ann's College (University of Adelaide) has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks.
