[edit] Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my Talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome!

Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. Yuser31415 02:00, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Don't look like a vandal. Please provide an edit summary when you edit.

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Will (Talk - contribs) 05:38, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] January 2007 vandalism

Your recent edit to Australian English phonology (diff) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept my humble creator's apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. [edit] Malays

Please do not add uncited information to this article without providing your reasoning. It will only be reverted (so save your time). Please discuss on article talk page if you believe it is necessary. Merbabu 01:22, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to the Talk:Business-to-consumer page. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. GracenotesT § 06:20, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] References - again

Please provide references for your edits. They look like good edits, but need citations, otherwise they should be removed. thanks Merbabu 02:33, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Account?

You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but you may wish to create a account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits, including:

We hope that you choose to become a Wikipedian and create an account. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have on my talk page. By the way, make sure to sign and date your comments with four tildes (~~~~). Khoikhoi 02:28, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Malay numerics

I've already pointed out that the Indonesian census is the only reliable number for counting the number of Malays. I have also pointed out that the infobox should only list significant populations, not just every country which has 100,000 or so people. Why do you persist in trying to inflate these numbers? (Caniago 06:49, 30 January 2007 (UTC))

[edit] An Automated Message from HagermanBot

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 01:47, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Malays

It would be great if you could devote your time to something productive instead of adding nonsense about Malay populations around the world that has already been discredited. Cape Malays and Sri Lankan Malays are a mixture of ethnic groups - Javanese, etc. (Caniago 09:14, 12 April 2007 (UTC))

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. [edit] WP:ATT

Please stop adding unsourced information to articles, particularly where the articles are controversial. Such information will simply be removed, so it only wastes your time too. You have been warned about this before.

Also, please see WP:SOCK. I do not know that you are a sock of an editor, but I have my suspicions. If you are proven to be a sock, you and all other associated accounts will be blocked. --Merbabu 07:45, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

You know you've been editing wikipedia long enough to know better, so...

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Malays (ethnic group), you will be blocked from editing. --Merbabu 08:22, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

This is your last warning.
The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to IELTS, you will be blocked from editing. --Merbabu 11:56, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

This is the only warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.

[edit] Blocked

If you wish to contribute to this encyclopedia, please create an account at home and log in with it here.

Due to persistent vandalism (see edit log), editing by anonymous users from your school, library or institution's IP address may be currently disabled. You continue to have full access to read the encyclopedia. If you are logged in but still unable to edit, please follow these instructions. To prevent abuse, account creation via this IP address is probably also disabled.

If editing is required for class projects, please have your teacher or network administrator contact us (with reference to this IP address) at unblock-en-l from an email address listed on your school's website. Alternatively, if you have no Internet access at home, you may email us using your school-issued email address, telling us your preferred username. An account will be created for you. Please check on this list that the username you choose has not already been taken.

Thank you.

[edit] Sock?

If we request a check user on your account, would it show that you are another account holder? I think I know who. Consequences of sockpuppetry include blocking of both accounts. --Merbabu 08:28, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] August 2007

If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. → AA (talk) — 08:42, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
