User talk:203.144.143.5
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is about an IP from a Thai ISP, the spam made from it, and minimizing the effects to non-spam users coming from the same IP. Trying to address 'User 203.144.143.5' in the manner others have done below isn't possible.
The IP address that this page refers to (203.144.143.5) comes from True Internet in Thailand (truehisp, and I am being directed to this page via DSL line (most likely it is an IP shared by many users). I don't think that you can address anyone in English and expect much of a response with regards to the use of this identity/IP. I wish I had a reasonable suggestion for what you could do to minimize the effects of such practices. In my experience, addressing issues such as this with True (and every other Thai ISP I have dealt with so far) is very, very difficult, if not impossible. I will check back to see if anyone responds to this, as I'd rather not have links presented to me regarding spamming by someone else using the same IP/ISP, and I'd really not like more IP-based bans (/. does that on a regular basis...). -- Chris

[edit] previous warnings & discussion
Do not add indirect external links-- if a site has a page of direct relevence to a particular article you may link to that page. Many non-direct links to the same front page of a site added to many articles can be percieved as spamming. See Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers for more tips. -- Infrogmation 17:02, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] your edit to acne vulgaris
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in acne vulgaris. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --Dirk Beetstra T C 17:43, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
