The 2018 Commonwealth Games, is an international multi-sport event that has yet to be organised by the Commonwealth Games Federation. The winning bid should be announced in 2011.

On May 1st, 2008 Nigerian Olympic Committee President Habu Ahmed Gumel Announces to the Press in Abuja, Nigeria that Nigerian President Umaru YAR'ADUA has given the green light to bid on the 2018 commonwealth games . Engineer Habu Ahmed Gumel, as he is known in much of the sport events world, was quoted by the Nigerian News Paper "This Day" to have said "The bidding process will have to commence immediately. This is an all-time landmark achievement for me and the Commonwealth Games Movement and indeed the Olympic Movement in Nigeria," he added. "I owe special gratitude to President Yar'Adua for the abiding faith and confidence in the Olympic Committee.

"There is a lot of work to be done. We are going to do a lot more work than we have done previously to ensure victory this time around."

However a bid city was not put forward but most likely cities are Lagos or Abuja.
