The 2005 Appalachian State Mountaineers football team represented Appalachian State University in the college football season of 2005–2006. The team is coached by Jerry Moore and the Mountaineers play their home games in Boone, North Carolina.[1]

The football team competes in Division I-AA. The Mountaineers are the only university in North Carolina, public or private, to win an National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) national championship in football. Appalachian State won the Division I-AA National Football Championship in 2005.
