Dennis McVeigh (b.September 19, 1973 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a renowned Baritone, Opera singer, and is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He currently resides in both Philadelphia, and in New York City, NY. Dennis McVeigh studied Music Performance at West Chester University and Temple University. Having performed several leading roles, primarily in New York, Philadelphia, and in Italy; he has appeared in the operas Tosca, Eugene Onegin, The Saint of Bleecker Street (recorded on the Classical music Chandos label), Aida, The Barber of Seville, La Boheme, Falstaff, Die Fledermaus, Les Mamelles de Tiresias, and Wozzeck among others. In Italy, Dennis McVeigh performed in Amahl and the Night Visitors under the direction of Maestro Gian Carlo Menotti, and Carmen under renowned film director, Carlos Saura. Both perfomances were filmed and also broadcast live via sattelite in Europe. He also performed at Il Festival dei Due Mondi (The Spoleto Festival) - Spoleto, Italy in various concerts and operas including the opera Wozzeck under the direction of controversial Opera director, Gunter Kramer. In New York City, Mr. McVeigh performed the leading role in a contemporary Japanese opera, Amanjaku, at Lincoln Center’s Merkin Hall. Mr. McVeigh is credited as being the first non-Japanese American to perform in a Japanese opera in ancient dialect. Also at Lincoln Center, Dennis McVeigh performed in a concert with renowned American Soprano, Lucine Amara. Mr. McVeigh was also featured in Der Jasager at the Japan Society in New York City, and performed at the DiCapo Opera Theater with the Network for New Music's production for the premiere of Ovidiana, a modern atonal Opera drawing from Greek mythology and the poet, Ovid. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mr. McVeigh has performed in several operas with The Opera Co. of Philadelphia, The Pavarotti Voice Competition, and performed as a soloist and member of The Bridge Ensemble under the baton of Maestro Donald Nally, and The Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia where he was featured soloist in the Faure Requiem.
