From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
These are the results for the 1996 edition of the Paris-Roubaix cycling classic, in which Johan Museeuw won his first Paris-Roubaix. Mapei GB totally dominated the race and three riders of this team arrived together to the velodrome in Roubaix.
Patrick Lefevere, Mapei GB directeur sportif, got the order by car phone that Johan Museeuw must win from the Italian office of Mapei’s managing director, Giorgio Squinzi.[1]
This edition had the fastest average speed (43.31 km/h) since Paris-Roubaix moved to the more difficult easterly route in 1968.[2]
