- Fastest Lap: Damon Hill 1m 24.531s
- This was Nigel Mansell's last race in Formula 1.
- Damon Hill was lying 2nd with one lap left but gearbox trouble saw him drop behind Herbert and Berger to 4th, a 2nd place would have kept him in the lead of the Championship
- Rubens Barrichello lost 6th on the last lap to Panis when his gearbox failed.
