  • Oregon governor Neil Goldschmidt, a Democrat, issues an executive order banning sexual orientation discrimination in public-sector employment. Later in the year, the order is repealed in a referendum (Measure 8), but the repeal does not go into effect as it is immediately challenged in court, and is ruled unconstitutional in 1992.[1] See 1992 in LGBT rights.
