1988 VFL Grand Final

The 1988 VFL Grand Final took place on September 24, 1988 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground between VFL clubs Hawthorn and Melbourne. It was Hawthorn's sixth successive Grand Final while Melbourne were competing in their first since 1964.

Hawthorn won the match by 96 points and in doing set a VFL record for the greatest winning margin in a Grand Final. It remained a record until Geelong's 119 point demolition of Port Adelaide in 2007.
