• Pole position: Nelson Piquet - 1:23.357^[1]
• Fastest lap: Nigel Mansell - 1:28.318 on lap 31^[1]
• Brundle was disqualified from 14th place for a bodywork infringement.
• The race is only one of two races which has been restarted twice due to accidents; the other is the 1990 Belgian Grand Prix.
• The qualifying sessions were marked by the bizarre accident in which Stefan Johansson hit and killed a deer that wandered into the race course.
• Numbers in brackets refer to positions of normally-aspirated entrants competing for the Jim Clark Trophy.
