1986 Australian Drivers' Championship

The 1986 Australian Drivers' Championship was open to drivers of Racing Cars complying with Formula Mondial regulations. The title was contested over a seven round series with the winner awarded the 1986 CAMS Gold Star.
- Round 1, Sandown Park, Victoria, 13 April
- Round 2, CSA Alloy Wheels Cup, Adelaide International Raceway, South Australia, 27 April
- Round 3, Wanneroo Park, Western Australia, 4 May
- Round 4, Calder Park, Victoria, 1 June
- Round 5, Winton, Victoria, 29 June
- Round 6, Oran Park, New South Wales, 13 July
- Round 7, Amaroo Park, New South Wales, 3 August
Rounds 1, 2, 4 & 7 used a single race format whereas Rounds 3, 5 & 6 featured two races per round. Championship points were awarded on a 9-6-4-3-2-1 basis to the top six placegetters in each round. Each driver could count points only from his or her six best round performances.
