  • June 19, 1985: Tommy John was released by the California Angels.
  • August 2, 1985: John Candelaria was traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with George Hendrick and Al Holland to the California Angels for a player to be named later, Pat Clements, and Mike Brown. The California Angels sent Bob Kipper (August 16, 1985) to the Pittsburgh Pirates to complete the trade. [2]
