The 1983 edition of the Orange Bowl featured the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and the LSU Tigers.
Nebraska scored first on a 5 yard touchdown run by Mark Schellen to take a 7-0 lead. Dalton Hilliard scored on a 1 yard touchdown run for LSU to tie the game at 7. In the second quarter, Hilliard scored on a second 1 yard touchdown run to give LSU a 14-7 lead.
In the third quarter, LSU's Bentanzos scored on a 28 yard field goal giving the Tigers a 17-7 lead. Turner Gill fired an 11 yard touchdown pass to Mike Rozier cutting the lead to 17-14. In the fourth quarter, Gill scored from 1 yard out as Nebraska took a 21-17 lead. LSU's Bentanzos kicked a 49 yard field goal to cap the scoring, as Nebraska hang on to win 21-20.
