The 1982 edition of the Orange Bowl featured the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and the Clemson Tigers.

Clemson scored first on a 41 yard field goal by Donald Igwebuike to take a 3-0 lead. Mike Rozier threw a 25 yard touchdown pass to Anthony Steels, as Nebraska led 7-3. Donald Igwebuike kicked a 37 yard field goal to pull Clemson to 7-6. In the second quarter, Clemson's Cliff Austin scored on a 2 yard touchdown run as Clemson led 12-7, going into halftime.

In the third quarter, Homer Jordan threw a 13 yard touchdown pass to Perry Tuttle as Clemson took a 19-7 lead. Igwebuike added his third field goal of the game, a 36 yarder, as the Tigers led 22-7. In the fourth quarter, Roger Craig scored on a 26 yard touchdown run as Clemson led 22-15. Clemson would hold on to win that game.
