The 1981–82 season was Minnesota's 15th season. Dino Ciccarelli would score a franchise record 55 goals in just his second season in 1981–82, leading Minnesota to its first division title, but the team bowed out of the play-offs in the first round against an upstart Chicago Blackhawks team.
