1980 VFL Grand Final

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1980 VFL Grand Final took place on September 27, 1980 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground between VFL clubs Collingwood and Richmond.

It was the first Grand Final for Richmond since 1974 while Collingwood had competed in and lost two of the last three, 1977 and 1979. Collingwood again finished on the losing team with Richmond winning by 81 points. It remained the greatest margin in Grand Final history until Hawthorn surpassed it in the 1988 decider. Richmond have not won a premiership since.
