- Feature films released in 1977 include: Star Wars, Annie Hall, Saturday Night Fever, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Goodbye Girl, Exorcist II: The Heretic
- John Travolta's role in Saturday Night Fever inspired young Americans to wear Flare jeans, an updated version of Bell-bottoms.
- Fleetwood Mac release Rumours. The album spend over 30 weeks at number one and became one the best selling albums of all time.
