A 1969 magazine advertisement for the Rambler American in the SC/Rambler version. The ad is marketing the vehicle. It serves as an example of how American Motors promoted a special "limited production" model in an attempt to change their market perception. No longer just an economy champion, this new model was probably the only production automobile made and promoted for a specific drag racing class, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) F/Stock class

[edit] Fair use for "1969 AMC SCRambler ADV-quarter mile.jpg"
The image shown here is claimed to be used under fair use as:
- The image is copy of a historically significant and very famous advertisement.
- There is no "free" equivalent of an actual advertisement from 1969.
- This has been previously published in numerous popular mass-market magazines during 1969.
- The name of the photographer is unknown.
- It is of much lower resolution than the original, so it will not detract from the value of any original photograph.
- The image is only being used for informational purposes.
- The material is encyclopedic and otherwise meets general Wikipedia content requirements.
- This meets the media-specific policy requirements.
- The image is used in at least one article.
- The material contributes to the article by specifically illustrating a relevant point in the car's history and section within the text.
- The image does not detract from the reputation of the subject.
[edit] Justification for "Fair Use" in two articles
Fair Use in Rambler American and Dragstrip articles:
- Though this image is subject to copyright as noted here, the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia’s non-free content policies cover its use, because:
- The image of this advertisement is only being used for informational purposes.
- It shows how American Motors publicly claimed drag racing performance of this model in their marketing campaigns.
- Its inclusion in the articles adds significantly to the subject because the advertisement shows the racing potential of this production car.
- The automobile pictured in the image relates directly to the drag racing performance discussed in the articles and it is historically significant.
- It is also highly unlikely that "free" images exist that illustrates the advertising and promotional use of this car's racing performance.
- A "free" image of this car racing on a drag strip will not show the key point: the marketing technique adapted by AMC to promote sales of this model.
