1969 United States Air Force SR-71 crash

On 18 December 1969, USAF SR-71 Blackbird #953 piloted by Colonel Joe Rogers with Major Gary Heidelbaugh as Reconnaissance Systems Operator crashed near Shoshone, California. The plane which was coming in for a landing was at 17,000 feet when the plane had problems. The pilots parachuted and survived the crash.
