- A conference of opposition parties in Dacca, forms the National Democratic Front and announces an eight-point political program that called for limiting the federal government powers to defence, foreign affairs, currency and federal finance and inter-provincial communications and trade. It also called for a parliamentary form of government elected on the basis of adult franchise.

- 8 July, Pakistan mourns the death of the Mother of the Nation Miss Fatima Jinnah who died at the age of 74. There was also a conspiracy that she was murdered by Ayub Khan's spies.

- 14 August, Pakistan celebrates its 20th year of independence.
