1961 Masters Tournament

The 1961 Masters Tournament was contested from April 6 to April 10 at Augusta National Golf Club. It was the 25th Masters Tournament. 88 players entered the tournament and 41 of them made the cut at five-over-par (149). Due to rain the final round was postponed and was finished on Monday.
Gary Player held off Arnold Palmer and amateur Charles Coe to become the Masters first international champion. On the 18th hole Player made an up and down from the bunker while Palmer took a six from the bunker for a double bogey.
Deane Beman won the Par 3 contest with a score of 22.
