Very few people realise that the NHS has not used blood plasma from the UK since 1998 and that the plasma used in the UK comes from the USA. The reason for this is to reduce the risk of the possible spread of variant CJD, for which there is at present no blood test. (White blood cells carry the greatest risk of transmitting vCJD.) In 2002 the department of health purchased an American blood plasma company for £50m. Since 2004 no one who themselves received a blood transfusion after 1980 has been allowed to donate blood. Furthermore the USA and Israel will not accept blood donations at all from people who have lived in the UK.

In May 2006 the Guardian reported, 'The government has been forced to warn 14 countries that patients are in danger of developing the human form of mad cow disease as a result of contaminated British blood products sold abroad. The contaminated blood products were exported in the 1990s by the British government to treat conditions such as haemophilia, severe burns and immune deficiency. At the time the government considered there was no risk.' I think that the public should be better informed of the situation.

You have recently vandalized a Wikipedia article, and you are now being asked to stop this type of behavior. You're welcome to continue editing Wikipedia, so long as these edits are constructive. Please see Wikipedia's Blocking policy and what constitutes vandalism; such actions are not tolerated on Wikipedia, and are not taken lightly.

We hope that you will become a legitimate editor. Again, you are welcome here at Wikipedia, but remember not to vandalize or you will soon be blocked from editing.

If you feel you have received this message in error, it may be because you are using a shared IP address. Nevertheless, repeated vandalism from this address may cause you to be included in any future sanctions such as temporary blocks or bans.
