From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1951 NBA Draft consisted of 12 rounds with 87 players selected. The first overall pick was Gene Melchiorre, though he would never play a minute in the NBA due to his involvement in a point shaving scandal while in college. Whitey Skoog was selected before the draft as a territorial pick of the Minneapolis Lakers.
