1950 in NASCAR

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1950 NASCAR Grand National Season began on Sunday February 5 and ended on Sunday October 29. Bill Rexford, driving for Julian Buesink won the championship.

Jimmy Florian of Cleveland, Ohio, was the first win ever for The Ford Motor Company in a 1950 flathead Ford for NASCAR in the seventh race of the season. He emerged shirtless which also prompted the changing of the dresscode for the drivers of NASCAR. He was touted as the guy "who came with a knife to a gunfight."
