[edit] Contradiction
This article says "The 1940 games had been scheduled for Tokyo, and later Helsinki as WWII started; no plans were made to hold games in 1944." However, according to the 1944 Summer Olympics page, "They were to have been held in London, United Kingdom by a decision of the IOC in June 1939."
Which is right? rst20xx 18:56, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image
Is there any type of main image anyone can get for this to make this look similar to the other pages of the Olympic Games?
A program cover, official logo, etc.?

Iran is not blue in this map. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.56.52.30 (talk) 10:40, 13 December 2006 (UTC).
Taiwan should be green. In 1948, the Republic of China has sovereignty over the island of Taiwan. During the events of the Chinese Civil War, the island would soon become the only territory over which the Republic of China retained practical sovereignty.157.127.124.15 17:26, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Alaska should possibly remain grey until 1960. It only has territorial status until 1959. For that matter, Oklahoma is not a state until 1907. Arizona and New Mexico are not states until 1912. 157.127.124.15 17:31, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Art competitions
Is it worth mentioning 1948 was effectively the last year for Art competitions at the Olympic Games? Medallists for art competitions in general are listed at Olympic medallists in art competitions, and are listed for 1948 at http://www.databaseolympics.com/games/gamessport.htm?g=12&sp=ART —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lumpish Scholar (talk • contribs) 23:22, 26 January 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Olympic logo 1948.gif
Image:Olympic logo 1948.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:38, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Essay
This article sounds like a personal essay, particularly the beginning where it asks questions of the reader. This is hardy encyclopedic style and needs to be revised by someone with sources on the subject. I have tagged it as of 28 January 2008. --JonRidinger (talk) 06:51, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
