[edit] Licence

This licence is probably wrong. I think that Capa was working for Life when he took this photo. I have never heard that he was working for the US army. Rama 18:32, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

I think this is not one of Capa's photos. See this page http://www.skylighters.org/photos/robertcapa.html Ydorb 03:19, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Hem... [1] [2]. Rama 11:06, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Okay, obviously confusion exists here world-wide. I checked Corbis and they list the photographer as CPhoM. Robert F. Sargent. (I believe CPhoM is a ranking, Combat Photographers Mate?) If you do a google search of "CPhoM Robert F. Sargent" you will see dozens of sites selling posters of this photograph. It is also listed here http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-cp/history/h_normandy.html as an official USCG photograph. Ydorb 17:51, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Also, the New York Times has an article [3] from August 27, 1999. Photography Review; An American Century, Through the Government's Lens. They say this, "As for history, the show offers some textbook facts . . . the D-Day landing (best known from Robert Capa's pictures but here in Robert F. Sargent's photograph for the Coast Guard)". [edit] Picture Deleted?

It just says no file with this name exists, and I can't find a link to IFD or anything. Did it get moved to commons or something? I find it odd that a featured picture would just disappear. Several articles still link here so if there's another version the links need to be changed. --Aqua 06:47, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

According to the deletion log, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log/delete&page=Image:NormandyLST.jpeg, it was deleted by User:Naconkantari. I posted a message on the talk page requesting an explanation. Ydorb 00:09, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
From what I gathered looking at other featured pictures that got moved to commons, it seems that we should change all the links to the one on commons and have this one redeleted. --Aqua 08:45, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
It should be the responsibility of the person doing the move to first make sure that the many pages that link to it will keep on working. Deleting a PD image that is linked from many articles without fixing the links first is just plain wrong --- Safemariner 14:14, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
