[edit] Summary
Consulting the Library of Congress copyright renewal list shows that the copyright lapsed and was not renewed. King Features has, however, trademarked Krazy Kat and related images, and so these images may not be used for commercial purposes.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Krazy Kat
The image above is copyrighted to King Features Syndicate in the United States. Rationale for its use in the Wikipedia article Krazy Kat:
- The use on the Internet version of Wikipedia is educational and non-commercial (other re-uses of the image might not be);
- The image reproduced is a single panel from a larger complete comic strip that does not harm the ability of the copyright-holder to profit from its reproduction;
- The image has been reduced in quality from the original.
