[edit] thank you

For finally explaining your repeated deletion of the lunar x prize talk page comment. I did as you advised me to, and read the talk page guidelines. These are some points I found particularly interesting.

  • Communicate: If in doubt, make the extra effort so that other people understand you, and you get a proper understanding of others. Being friendly is a great help. It is always a good idea to explain your views; it is less helpful for you to voice an opinion on something and not explain why. Giving an opinion helps in convincing others and reaching consensus.
  • Be welcoming to newcomers: People new to Wikipedia may be unfamiliar with policy and conventions. Please do not bite the newcomers. If someone does something against custom, assume it was an unwitting mistake. Politely and gently point out their mistake, reference the relevant policy/guideline/help pages, and suggest a better approach.
I would also recommend that you read the section called 'Editing Comments' on the talk page guideline. Which one of these points qualified this comment for deletion? Editing others posts should be kept at a minimum. Only if it is absolutely necessary such as in outright vandalism or if the comment contains harmful unverified information about a living person. It is not up to you to decide for every visitor of the page which comments are useless and which are not. What is relevant to the subject is relevant to the article about the subject, because it could potentially be included in the article. If the original post were left as it was everyone could read it and decide that for themselves, and most likely the consensus would indeed be that there was nothing there worthy of inclusion in the article. This, however, is not up to you alone to decide. I think it would have been better to leave a comment pointing out that this was not an appropriate place for this kind of discussion. For these reasons, I will soon re-add the comment unless you give me a reply with a good reason not to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.5.225.172 (talk) 15:12, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. --John (talk) 16:50, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

This is your last warning.
The next time you blank a page, as you did to Jeff V. Merkey, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. NawlinWiki (talk) 10:19, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Anonymous users from this IP address have been blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy due to persistent vandalism originating from your proxy server or network. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Standard Widget Toolkit do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: '\bblogspot\.com' (link(s): http://inside-swt.blogspot.com/) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thorougly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creators copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! XLinkBot (talk) 13:47, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
