- 10 - 14 March - The Rand Revolt or Rebellion, a strike by White mineworkers which started on 28 December 1921 becomes open rebellion against the state
- 15 March - Samuel Long, labour pioneer and striker, is arrested
- 27 October - Southern Rhodesians vote on a referendum and reject a union with South Africa

- 6 May - Elize Botha, first wife of State President of South Africa Pieter Willem Botha, is born in Senekal

- 17 November - Rand Revolt strikers Samuel Long, Herbert Hull and David Lewis, are hanged at the Central Prison in Pretoria for the murder.
