From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union in which figure skaters compete for the title of World Champion. The 1902 competition took place on February 13th, 1902 in London, Great Britain.

Only the men's event was supposed to be held. Just 4 skaters participated. However one of them was a lady, Mrs. Madge Syers-Cave. The ISU rules did not specify that only men are allowed to participate. In the following year rules got changed and separate World Championships for Ladies and Men were introduced, but the Ladies event was first held in 1906.
