• Originally scheduled for September, postponed due to America's Cup yacht races.
• All 36 holes were played in one day.
• Rawlins used a gutta percha ball.
• Rawlins received a $50 gold medal.
• His home club was given the Open Championship Cup.

• Myopia Hunt Club was a nine hole course so players went around the course eight times.
• Herd was the club professional at Washington Park Golf Club in Chicago. He came from The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews in Scotland.
• Herd's brother is 1902 British Open champion Sandy Herd.
