17th parallel north

The parallel 17° north is an imaginary circle of latitude that is 17 degrees north of the Earth's equatorial plane.

Starting at the prime meridian and heading eastwards, the parallel 17° north passes through:

• Mali;
• Niger;
• Chad;
• Sudan;
• Eritrea;
• The Red Sea;
• Saudi Arabia (the Farasan Islands and the mainland);
• Yemen
• Oman;
• The Indian Ocean (Arabian Sea);
• India;
• The Indian Ocean (Bay of Bengal);
• Myanmar;
• Thailand;
• Laos;
• Vietnam (see also Seventeenth parallel);
• The Pacific Ocean (South China Sea, passing through the disputed Paracel Islands, to the south of North Reef and to the north of West Sand and Tree Island);
• The Philippines;
