179 Klytaemnestra is a fairly large Main belt asteroid. It is an S-type asteroid.
It was discovered by J. C. Watson on November 11, 1877. It was the last of his 22 asteroid discoveries. It is named after Clytemnestra, the wife of Agamemnon in Greek mythology.
