16th Street West (Minot, North Dakota)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
16th Street West, or simply 16th Street in local vernacular, is a major north-south city route in Minot, North Dakota. It is the second-largest north-south route in the city after Broadway, and has four lanes between 4th Avenue NW and the Dakota Square Mall.
Major locations along the street include educational institutions such as the Magic City Campus of Minot High School, the Quentin N. Burdick Job Corps Center, and Longfellow Elementary School, and the shopping districts around Dakota Square Mall and Arrowhead Shopping Center. Many businesses along 4th Avenue NW and 20th Avenue SW are located close to 16th Street, including Oak Park Center along 4th Avenue.
With the opening in 2002 of an underpass under the Canadian Pacific Railway, it opened up a fourth route in the city for traffic to freely pass moving trains – and only the second such crossing to have four lanes of traffic.
Beyond 21st Avenue NW it continues as a private gravel road, though a route is now being surveyed to continue the road northward to intersect with the US 83 bypass.
