The Brigade is responsible for a number of units throughout Ohio, most of which are also combat Engineer units.

[edit] History

Members of the Brigade provide construction and design assistance for Nations worldwide, both in aid to civilian authorities and traditional training environments. The 16th Engineer Brigade embarked on a mission to Eagle Pass, Texas, on the Rio Grande River at the U.S.-Mexican border. As part of Joint Task Force 6, the brigade employed nearly 500 soldiers from April until July 2000, to improve roadways, emplace culverts and construct a wooden trestle bridge and two low water crossing sites. The improvements allow the United States border patrol to travel with ease along the border and respond to illegal crossings quickly.
