{{unblock|The block is unfair to the ''vast'' majority of Maine students who use this proxy to edit Wikipedia according to the rules.}}
- Vandalism is unfair to the vast majority of wikipedia users who then have to deal with it. Best way to make everyone happy is to stop the vandalism, can some of these good users contact those responsible for running the computers and see if they are willing to deal with those abusing the privilege? No vandalism == No blocks. --pgk(talk) 09:57, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] May 2006
{{unblock|Please unblock this IP. People cannot simply stop doing the vandalism.}} I would like to make legimate edits while at school using my account (User:Ac1983fan), but cannot because of the blocks that are often made. Please, unblock and I will help to revert vandalism from this IP.--169.244.70.146 15:28, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Why can't they simply stop? No one is forcing them to vandalise. I suggest you speak to the network admin for the schools computers and see if they are willing to help deal with those who abuse the service. If this is affecting your account as I think I've suggested before you should post the unblock request from your user account giving the details of the block, not from the IP address itself. --pgk(talk) 15:35, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Because my account isn't blocked, it's because of some bug that makes when users are operating from blocked IP's, they can't edit. I can edit fine at home though.--169.244.70.146 15:38, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- So you are blocked when editing from behind this IP, you are effectively currently blocked from editing. If you need to be able to use that account from behind this IP you need to put the unblock request on your user page with detail of the block. i.e. I cannot edit because the IP of my school is blocked. --pgk(talk) 15:43, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Look at the template at the top of the page. <quote>If you are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. However, you will still be unable to edit Wikipedia while the IP you are using is blocked.</quote> Thus, unblocking my account would do nothing, as my account is not blocked. That's why this IP would hazve to be unblocked.--169.244.70.146 17:02, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- OK I'll spell it out for you. I have no way of telling that you are who you claim you are. Do you understand that? You can verify that by posting the unblock request on your page under your account. Understand that yet? Since you'll say you can't edit because this IP is blocked. At that point, I don't try and unblock your account, because (a) I can see it's not blocked and (b) You've told me that the problem is this IP address. So I look and If need be unblock the IP address. Do you get it now? Quite frankly I'm not sure why you are bothering arguing about this. It would take you 2 seconds to have done what I've asked and we could have progressed this a long time ago. --pgk(talk) 17:11, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, now I understand. I am logging on now.--169.244.70.146 17:16, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to J. Edgar Hoover has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. — iridescent 15:58, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Due to persistent vandalism (see edit log), editing by anonymous users from your school, library or institution's IP address may be currently disabled. You continue to have full access to read the encyclopedia. If you are logged in but still unable to edit, please follow these instructions. To prevent abuse, account creation via this IP address is probably also disabled.
If editing is required for class projects, please have your teacher or network administrator contact us (with reference to this IP address) at unblock-en-l from an email address listed on your school's website. Alternatively, if you have no Internet access at home, you may email us using your school-issued email address, telling us your preferred username. An account will be created for you. Please check on this list that the username you choose has not already been taken.
Thank you.
This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
