[edit] Notice On Project Home
General Project resources, planning and discussion can be found at the first novel and series talk pages, talk: 1632 (novel) and talk: 1632 series respectively. The series talk has for example a list of categories that are pertinent the whole series presented so they can be picked up into the cut buffer and laid down in the edit window, sans error. Easy! The series talk lists all Wikipedia pages applicable as well. Click and you're there (Dorthy had to click her heels three times... and you're thinking of complaining!)
Please peruse those pages before editing here. FrankB 17:55, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Copyright Issue
This whole section originated because the wikipedia copyright pages of guidelines are obtuse, and talk mainly of images, not attributed quoted text from published sources used with permission. FrankB 01:58, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 1634: The Ram Rebellion quote
When I stubbed this article, I used the forward from the eBook with permission from the author Eric Flint. I subsequently requested this be reviewed by BD2412, who does a lot of legal work for the wikipedia foundation and is one heck of an editor himself. He wouldn't accept an RfA nomination until he'd hit 10,000 edits, which to my mind, speaks well of his quality. This is his response to that email:
[edit] Email answer on Copyright of forward
I wouldn't keep it - it may be with permission, but it's not GFDL. You can pick some smaller chunks of it to keep, and paraphrase/summarize the rest. Cheers! BD2412 T 01:40, 8 April 2006 (UTC) I've thanked him via email, and moved this post here from my talk page. Once I've caught up a bit, I'll impliment his advice, if I keep it at all when maturing the article. FrankB 01:58, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 1632 as a Shared-World Series
Why is this section in one of the book articles and not in the 1632 series main piece?--Nickpheas 22:40, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- I chopped a lot of this stuff out; it is about the series as a whole, not about this book, and does not belong here. Believe me, this does not constitute any disparagement of what Brother Flint and the rest of the gang are doing! --Orange Mike 16:02, 26 October 2007 (UTC) (AFSCME L.82; NWU/UAW L.1981; IWW I.U.660)
- Unfortunately, another editor in good faith reverted a lot of what I'd done in good faith; unwisely, in my arrogant opinion. I'm not trying to get into a revert war, but I do hope folks will trim out a lot of the shared-universe stuff that is redundant and should not be rehashed in every article about every item from this universe. It gives us a bad name as obsessed fanboys trying to advertise rather than give impartial information. --Orange Mike 14:47, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
