- Death of Marta de Nevares, mistress of Lope de Vega.
- King Charles I and Queen Henrietta Maria visit Cambridge University in March. The students of Trinity College perform Randolph's The Jealous Lovers and Hausted's The Rival Friends, the latter causing a theatrical riot and subsequent scandal.
