THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME 1 JULY - 18 NOVEMBER 1916
Men of the Royal Garrison Artillery in Englebelmer Wood moving a 15-inch Howitzer shell by rolling it along a pair of rails.
Comment : The IWM caption describes the men as being from the RGA. However, the weapon was operated by the Royal Marine Artillery.
NOTE : This version of the photograph has brightness and contrast artificially increased to highlight detail.
