[edit] Blighter!
I speedied that one... I opened up the reference which was a myspace page... Well, can't blame 'em for trying, eh? Or can we? :-D ScarianCall me Pat 23:35, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Actually it could be probably a redirect rather than a speedy. ScarianCall me Pat 23:35, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Very good! I knew it wasn't just me. Keep an eye on the 'creator'. I am trying to listcruft clean the sweep picking article and he keeps undoing my good do's. 156.34.221.33 (talk) 23:37, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
He referred to you as "Sup ass" :-) Lucky you! ScarianCall me Pat 23:43, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- I have no idea what that is??? Is that some new word that young Hip Hop wigger teens are using? 156.34.221.33 (talk) 23:45, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Don't worry. Sorry I didn't reply for a while; I was reporting him :-D Check it out! ScarianCall me Pat 23:55, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- If no one picks up the 3RR in the next couple of minutes I'm jumping onto IRC to get an admin 'cause I need this to finish so I can have a cigarette... Hey! I could use Wiki to help me cut down... Report 5 trolls and then you may have a fag... Then I'll step it up to 10... then 15... and then I'll most likely stop the whole beating the record thing and just smoke... :-D ScarianCall me Pat 00:10, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
I had him blocked. Good show. Smoke time! ScarianCall me Pat 00:18, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
I won't rub it in your face by telling you how good that smoke was :-D - To give up I've tried nicotine gum, patches and that cowardly thing called willpower... But now you've told me that the ultimate way to give up is by getting someone pregnant... I'll tell my partner and see if she loves me enough to have a baby so I can give up smoking :-D Thanks! You can call me "Pat the non-smoking Dad" in the future. :-D ScarianCall me Pat 00:45, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ahhh but once you have one.... yes, you'll want to quit smoking but... you'll also no longer have the same fun "trying" to have one... a baby that is. 156.34.221.33 (talk) 00:52, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'll ask her anyway... just in case... :-D - Anyway, I'm back to work tomorrow, so I best be off my good friend (Oh btw, if she does say Yes and we do have a baby then their first name is gonna be Libsey no matter what gender :-D)! Take care! ScarianCall me Pat 01:01, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
God help the poor child :D 156.34.221.33 (talk) 01:15, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] List of punk bands
I've been thinking of AfD'ing some of the 'List of xyz rock bands' for a while, I'll start with this one. Funeral 14:06, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've commented there. Funeral 14:23, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- Excellent. 156.34.221.33 (talk) 14:43, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Re: Opinion. Funners seems to have settled it rather well. That I.P. did have a dig at KoS which I've warned him about. But otherwise it looks like it's fine now. Hooah! ScarianCall me Pat 14:47, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

- The IP is a sock for blocked user Mark753 so all his edits can be rm'd even if they are good ones just because he's blocked. 156.34.221.33 (talk) 14:49, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I can look out for his stuff... but I need some guarantee that he is Mark753 so I don't walk into a load of crap for reverting his edits :-D ScarianCall me Pat 14:58, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

He's easy to spot. He has a personal agenda against the Classic metal article and a vendetta against KoS. Also vandalises other heavy metal related pages including the list of heavy metal bands (that's where he got his vandalism baptism) 156.34.221.33 (talk) 15:12, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- Is there a template for that? There's a red link when you add {{untrustworthy}} to the page. Funeral 19:24, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of punk bands - What a load of bullshit... "Keep and merge" - merge with what? The list is already in the cat, which is more populated than the list. I'm gonna close this one myself and open an AfD for the List of NWOBHM artists - no one can possibly want to keep that. Funeral 19:11, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy request on D.V.C
Hi there. I declined the speedy on this article because it did in fact attempt to claim notability through touring in Europe and release of a couple of albums, which would at least get close to WP:MUSIC guidelines. Instead, I took it to an AFD for further discussion. The AFD page can be found at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/D.V.C. Cheers. Tony Fox (arf!) 21:25, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Question regarding your removal of a source [1]
Hi, I was wondering if you could point out Metallica's article that according to you 14 months ago read word for word as the source of web site [2] does which I had provided, and also would you please point out where Wikipedia:Reliable sources says that texts within wikipedia articles cannot simulate word for word the source which it's using as reference. Thanks in advance.--Harout72 (talk) 23:51, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re:
Doesn't assert notability and thus fails WP:BAND. AfD or speedy? A speedy might be declined... but it would be deleted for sure in an AfD. What'd you think? ScarianCall me Pat 16:23, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Naw it's fine :-P She's up and running... It should get deleted. Any more work for me? I feel eager and enthusiastic today! ScarianCall me Pat 16:32, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] PLEASE Stop.
You're speedying too quickly. Your gleeful tagging of metal pages is proceeding far too quickly for you to be being careful about it; plenty of the db's you've tagged in the past hour have been illegitimate. Chubbles (talk) 16:49, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Nope... read them again. All junk and all valid Speedy D's. 156.34.221.33 (talk) 16:51, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Anons are discriminated against on Wikipedia and we aren't permitted to complete the AfD process. I have another editor doing that for me. I have said this a thousand times on Wikipedia over the last 4 years...
Inclusionists are the scourge of all quality on Wikipedia.
Read the articles again.. just because a band opened for a notable act does not make them notable themselves. Try looking at them with quality in mind instead of NN compassion. 156.34.221.33 (talk) 16:58, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not here to talk philosophy; I'm here to write an encyclopedia. I expect that whatever you tag for CSD should be totally non-notable; otherwise, bring it to the community for a consensus delete. Chubbles (talk) 17:00, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Brought convo over: Wow that took me a long time to bundle all of those articles together for deletion... I think I need a coffee. I'll leave you to it for a little while :-D ScarianCall me Pat 17:02, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Additional note to the above - Need any help with that? I can put off my coffee for a little while :-D ScarianCall me Pat 17:02, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Chubbles... for the 3iw's page... did you not consider that the other 3 articles on the other language Wiki's were all speedys too? Because they are. 156.34.221.33 (talk) 17:06, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- It should be enough for us to take pause and consider whether the group has had international success. If they have, they clearly deserve a page per WP:MUSIC. Chubbles (talk) 17:08, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
I've met you before, I think. You had a different IP address, then...I guess the only way I'll see what you're deleting is when you show up editing pages on my watchlist. I wish we could meet each other halfway, here; sadly, there are two of you now, and I doubt i'll be able to keep up (at work, no less)... Chubbles (talk) 17:15, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

- I don't agree the bands are notable if they are simply spamming Iwiks in the same manner that they are trying on English Wiki. I've played in bands that have had more notability then any of my Speedy noms... but I've never considered making an article for them. I played in a band whose debut (and only) album knocked Van Halen's "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" album out of the number one slot on a Mainstream Rock Chart in Italy. But I would never make an article for that band either. And if I saw one... I tag it for a speedy. It's all about the "quality" not the quantity. English Wikipedia has over 2 million articles and 60% of them are absolute crap. 156.34.221.33 (talk) 17:18, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

- Well, here's to that band having an article, some day. Sad that Italian metal should be so underrepresented; I wrote entries for Tommy Conwell and Henry Lee Summer, who were (I think) the last '80s artists to have a #1 rock hit in America and no article. - It just all becomes dispiriting after a while, because these pages are exactly what I use Wikipedia for. Pop music - even relatively minor acts that nevertheless had some success in their day - is the subject of paper encyclopedias, and I've spent a lot of time trying to expand that coverage here. But with metal acts especially, the pages tend to be crappy and they tend to get repeatedly deleted. Sometimes it's because the pages are spam; sometimes it's just because metal's an easier target (no one ever speedies my poorly sourced articles about 14th century musicians, or opera singers). The key here is, I want to keep bad pages about notable bands; they need to be cleaned up, not offed. (Well, at least that's where I am.) If you'd like, I'd even be willing to do this: You could dump a list of bands on me for me to sort through and try to fix up at least provisionally. Whenever I have time I can go through it and see what's wheat and what's chaff. Just a thought. Chubbles (talk) 18:11, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
