The statement about the "14th Infantry Division," a fictitious or notional unit, is misleading and based on inadequate research. The division was never "assigned to the First US Army Gp" or involved with Operation FORTITUDE. It was, however, one of a number of notional unit designations in a pool of fictitious divisions given to the British for by American authorities for possible use in Mediterranean theater. As it turned out, the 14th Division designation was never used for deception purposes during World War II.
