[edit] Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button Image:Signature_icon.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 07:08, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Welcome!

Hi, 145.64.134.234, Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy the encyclopaedia and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ; plus, if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions). There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Also, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page.

[edit] User accounts: increased anonymity and editing benefits

You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but you may wish to create a account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits, including:

[edit] Additional tips

Here are some extra tips to help you get around in Wikipedia:

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, check out the New contributors' help page.

[edit] Current open tasks

Here are some tasks you can do:

Good luck.

That list above is pretty staggering. Here's a good place to start: the simplified ruleset. It contains 90% of what you need to know to get started. I strongly recommend you get an account here.

Also, I realize your photos have some real economic value to you, so you may not want to do this, but consider possibly releasing a few to Wikipedia under the GFDL license. Here are some images recently featured on the English Wikipedia's Main Page:

Note that releasing images under GFDL is very similar to releasing them into the public domain.

There's also a common image library that applies to all Wikimedia projects:

Commons involves a separate account from what one has on the English Wikipedia.

Good luck, --A. B. (talkcontribs) 15:53, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

See these notes I left:
You clearly have wide-ranging interests and language skills; I hope you'll stick around and add text to articles that interest you on our various Wikimedia projects. --A. B. (talkcontribs) 16:25, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
