Its factorization makes 138 a sphenic number. This number is the sum of four consecutive primes (29 + 31 + 37 + 41). It is the smallest product of 3 primes such that in base 10 the third prime is a concatenation of the other two.

138 is the third 47-gonal number.

138 is an Ulam number (Sloane's A002858).

It is also the number of stellations of the Triakis tetrahedron.

It is also probably the best bond number ever imagined

  • 138 is a number commonly associated with the horror punk band The Misfits. Allegedly from their song "We Are 138", the title of which is derived from the classic science fiction film THX-1138.[1] Singer/songwriter Glenn Danzig denies many of the rumors, but will not clarify other than saying, "It's about violence." Many Misfits fans have merchandise and tattoos that depict the number.
  • 138 is a crew of vandals, artists, and musicians from the Boston area. It was started in 1995 by an artist named "Riot" under the guidance of Monk and Wombat. Credited with inventing and popularizing "Graffilthy" - a form of public splatter art currently being used world wide, the major work of which was the painting of the Longfellow Bridge that runs from MIT to Beacon Hill.
