[edit] Nair

Hello, you seem to know much about history of Kerala. It would be worthwhile if you could contribute some information about the history of Nairs, Nambiars, Menon, etc. (I am sure there is more historical information than what is there now). Thankyou Malayaliyan 13:57, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vengayil are Nambiars.

I have Vengayil relatives and they most definitely are Nambiars. And refer to the talk page concerning Major Gen Vinod Nayanar. ThanksB Nambiar 12:56, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

I have heard from family that the Vengayil family split from the Kodoth Nambiar family a while back, both initially from the same original tharavadu. There is definitely a Nayanar/Nambiar connection as many Nambiars I know carry the last name Nayanar. Also Major Gen Vinod Nayanar is a Nambiar as his mother belongs to the matrilinear Kalliat Nambiar house, therefore he is a Nambiar.B Nambiar 13:42, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Ah ok, I agree with your proposal, I have no references that Maj Gen Vinod Nayanars mother is a Nambiar except that I know of course since he is family, though he deserves to be put in the Nayanar article in any case. Just generally I would like to say that as I said before I have heard from family that Kodoth and Vengayil split over a feud, and I have Vengayil relatives who I was sure are Nambiars, I don't know whether we can find references for this though. My grandmother, a Nambiar carrying the Nayanar name which I now realize means she belongs to the Nayanar sub-caste, told me Nayanar was just a title some Nambiars affixed to their names as a result of status. Anyway I am interested in the expansion of the Nayanar article since quite a few of my relatives are Nayanars, so I'll start looking for referenced material for it. Cheers. [edit] Edits to Talk:Ezhava

While it's been a while, I just want to say: please do not move text around. It is extremely confusing to figure out what is going on. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 09:36, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
