Hi. It's fine if you personally believe that Morgellons is a real disease, but your personal beliefs do not give you the right to edit an article to give credence to those beliefs (WP:NPOV). If you wish to claim that most dermatologists believe this is a real disease, then you need to provide a citation, not deliberately edit the article to make it sound like there is a citation supporting you, when the citation linked to says something completely the opposite! This is a controversial topic, and the Wikipedia entry is presently an accurate summation of all the available information - fraudulent editing is especially unwelcome in articles such as this, where objectivity is essential. Other editors have tried to change the Morgellons page to suit their belief in the existence of a disease, and been persistent about it, and they have not and will not get their way simply by acting like bullies - WP has policies against that sort of thing. The situation is simple: there is no scientifically-documented support for the existence of a disease; if and when such support appears, THEN the article will be changed to reflect the new understanding. To reply to anon..... You seemed rather confused about a lot of issues and a rather angry person. I am a professional scientist and expert in this area. Your comments are very confused and dangerous and although you have the right to make ridiculous comments and I must accept that non experts are allowed to edit this page.
- Are you familiar with the phrase "The pot calling the kettle black"? You are an astronomer, working at the European Southern Observatory, and posting anonymously - so YOU are the non-expert who is being allowed to edit the page (and, perhaps not coincidentally, you show evidence of being both confused and angry). Just because you are a scientist does not mean you cannot be wrong, or fail to be objective, especially if you, yourself suffer from the condition (that is a pretty fundamental conflict of interest - you cannot possibly be objective about a condition which may be psychological! No one wants to believe that they have a psychosis, obviously, but there is a big difference between personal, private denial and trying to alter PUBLIC DOCUMENTS). At present, at least, there is no reason to believe that you are an expert when it comes to the topic of Morgellons. I, on the other hand, have over 20 years experience with people suffering from Delusional parasitosis, which does in fact make me an expert. If you seriously contend that you are an expert, then why not post under your real name, as I do, and give your credentials to back up your claim of expertise? Dyanega 18:04, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] You cannot change direct quotes to suit your opinions
You persist in trying to change the phrase "Most dermatologists..." - but this is a direct quote from the cited reference. If you want to dispute this, then you need to find a published source that states differently, and add it to the article, instead of fraudulent alteration of text that is already there.
